Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim has been filmed issuing his first demand to players in behind-the-scenes footage released by the club on Wednesday. Amorim met some of his newly inherited squad at Carrington on Tuesday as he continues to settle into life in Manchester.

The 39-year-old head honcho has been hard at work at United’s training ground since touching down from Portugal at the start of the week.

He is believed to be holding a series of meetings with different club figures, including the staff he has brought from Sporting, while most of his players are away on international duty.

Amorim will have to wait until next week to take to the training pitch and start to instil his 3-4-3 philosophy into a roster moulded mainly by his predecessor, Erik ten Hag.

The Portuguese tactician is yet to be granted a work permit, although that dilemma is expected to be solved in the coming days – certainly in time for United’s internationals to return.

But while some are representing their countries and others are enjoying a short break, several of Amorim’s players have stayed at Carrington.

Luke Shaw, Leny Yoro, Kobbie Mainoo and Mason Mount are among the players fresh from an injury return or nearing a comeback continuing rehabilitation at United HQ.

And the club has shared fresh footage of the quartet meeting Amorim following images that stirred the fanbase on social media on Tuesday evening.

The 38-second video shows the new United boss inspecting the gym, where he warmly greets some academy stars, Mount, Shaw, Yoro and Mainoo.

In a brief snippet of a speech he gives to Shaw and others off camera, Amorim says: “I’m thrilled to be here, and guys, we have to have fun!”

Amorim will already have one eye on next Sunday’s Premier League trip to Portman Road to face Ipswich Town, his first outing as United boss.

It will be no easy debut task, with Ipswich invigorated by their first win since returning to the English top flight at Tottenham last time out.

Amorim will only have a short time to drill his vision into United’s players before the trip, with most set to return midway through next week.

He is widely expected to stick with his favoured three-at-the-back system from the off, a drastic switch-up from Ten Hag’s philosophy.

It attracts the risk of teething problems at the dawn of his tenure, but Amorim has arrived at Old Trafford firmly as a long-term leader.

Shaw, Yoro, Mainoo and Mount all have the potential to be crucial players under his stewardship once they return to full fitness.
