Manchester United are lining up a swoop for England’s Marc Guehi.
The transfer window is in full swing despite many big-name stars away for Euro 2024 and Copa America this summer, it has not stopped Premier League clubs from getting their business underway. Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea are among the teams aiming to improve their squads early in the window, with some done deals already made.
Chelsea were thought to be on the verge of signing Brazilian wonderkid Pedro Lima from Sport Recife and the player had already confirmed that a move to England was in its final stages, but they were sensationally beaten to the punch by Wolves after Matheus Cunha’s phonecalls persuaded the full-back to head to Molineux instead.
He would have been the Blues’ second summer signing after Tosin Adarabioyo on a free transfer from Fulham, but Todd Boehly and co are set to spend big once again despite previous Premier League profit and sustainability fears.
Manchester United are specifically looking to bolster their defence, with efforts already made over targets Jarrad Branthwaite, Marc Guehi and Goncalo Inacio. The Red Devils could sign two centre-backs this summer, having backed Erik ten Hag following an end-of-season review.
Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite could be on the move this summer.
Arsenal want to sign a new forward to compete with Kai Havertz, but have been forced to look elsewhere after Slovenian wonderkid Benjamin Sesko opted to stay at RB Leipzig and further his development, as opposed to sealing a £60million move to England.
Tottenham and Liverpool are hoping to confirm their first incomings of the summer also, with Arne Slot especially looking at help in the daunting task of replacing Jurgen Klopp.

Manchester United are in talks with the representatives of Bologna striker Joshua Zirkzee, according to reports.

However, his salary and agent’s demands could be a stumbling block.
Arsenal weigh up Pedro Neto push
Arsenal are considering whether to make a move for Wolves winger Pedro Neto in the coming weeks, according to report.
According to GIVEMESPORT, there is a belief at Wolves that a deal could be struck with Arsenal soon.

Liverpool close in on deal

Man Utd ready Josep Martinez offer
Manchester United will reportedly formulate an offer for Genoa goalkeeper Josep Martinez today.
According to Sacha Tavolieri, United plan to make a concrete bid for the 26-year-old, who has held talks with Inter Milan.
It’s unclear whether the Red Devils view Martinez as a replacement for Andre Onana, Altay Bayindir or Tom Heaton.
Levi Colwill considering Bayern Munich move
Sky Sports Germany claim that Chelsea defender Levi Colwill is considering a move to Bayern Munich to link up with new boss Vincent Kompany.
Colwill has competition at centre-back from Tosin Adarabioyo, Benoit Badiashile, Wesley Fofana and Axel Disasi at Stamford Bridge, with Colwill often preferred at left-back last season.
Bayern are eyeing up defensive reinforcements and Euro 2024 star Jonathan Tah is seen as the likely candidate after an impressive year at Bayer Leverkusen.
But if they cannot agree a deal for Tah, then Colwill is being treated as another option, with the green light given from the English defender’s camp.

Manchester United to launch formal Josep Martinez bid today
Manchester United are set to make a formal bid for Genoa goalkeeper Josep Martinez.
That’s according to Foot Mercato, who claim that an official offer is set to arrive today, as they look to hijack Inter Milan’s plans to sign the stopper.
The Red Devils already have Andre Onana and Altay Bayindir but could be set to reinforce that position even further with Martinez.
Juventus snub Mason Greenwood for Jadon Sancho
Juventus had thought to be closing in on a deal for Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood.
The Red Devils are willing to sell the one-cap England man after a year on loan at Getafe and Juventus had agreed personal terms, with a fee yet to be finalised.
However, the Serie A giants have instead turned their interest towards Greenwood’s United team-mate Sancho.
They have cooled interest in Greenwood and instead want to sign Sancho on loan, with an option to buy, after Erik ten Hag’s future was resolved and his feud with Sancho unresolved.
Arsenal and Newcastle join Marc Guehi race
Arsenal and Newcastle have joined Manchester United in the race for Crystal Palace and England centre-back Marc Guehi.
Having excelled in his Euro 2024 opener, Guehi has attracted interest from a host of Premier League giants, with United open to sending Aaron Wan-Bissaka in exchange to Palace in order to reduce Guehi’s £65million asking price.
CaughtOffside claim that Arsenal are willing to test Palace’s resolve, as they want to keep the 23-year-old at Selhurst Park.
The Gunners value Guehi less than £50m, but they plan to open discussions with Palace while Guehi focuses on international football in Germany.

Mats Hummels offered to Chelsea and Tottenham
Mats Hummels is a free agent this summer after departing Borussia Dortmund, having led the German side to a Champions League final.
And HITC claim that Tottenham and Chelsea are two of the clubs that Hummels’ representatives have been in contact with over a potential contract.
Newcastle, West Ham United and Everton have all also been spoken to, with the 35-year-old very open to Premier League football next season.
Premier League fixtures to cause deadline day chaos
The Premier League’s fixtures for the 2024/25 season were released this morning, with plenty of exciting clashes for fans to get their teeth into.
However, it has caused a potential problem for clubs in the transfer window, with several games scheduled after the August 30 deadline.
One of those includes Manchester United hosting Liverpool, with teams surely keen to get their business completed before that round of fixtures.
Arsenal sent ‘come-and-get-me’ plea
Monaco playmaker Aleksandr Golovin has revealed that he would be very open to joining Arsenal, should the opportunity present itself this summer.
Golovin has two years left on his contract with the Ligue 1 club but that has not stopped him from dreaming of a life in north London.
“I like where I am now, even more than in previous years,” he said. “We have the strongest [Monaco] team of all time, the coach is also the most successful. So, right now, I’m not thinking about switching.
“But if you move, then only to top clubs. PSG, Manchester City, Real Madrid. I would also say Arsenal, because I have always had sympathy for this club.”
Russia star Aleksandr Golovin would be open to joining Arsenal.
Manchester United joined in Marc Guehi race
Crystal Palace are reportedly battling to keep hold of their England Euro 2024 star Marc Guehi amid interest from Manchester United, Liverpool and Tottenham.
The Daily Mail claim that all three Premier League giants are closely monitoring Guehi in Germany, with serious interest held in the centre-back.
Guehi has just two years left on his current contract at Selhurst Park and while Palace are reluctant to let that deal run into its final 12 months, they will attempt to convince him to stay.
They may consider including a release clause should Guehi engage in talks over a new deal, but any negotiations are put on hold until England’s Euros campaign comes to an end.
If Guehi cannot be tempted into an extended stay in south London, Palace value the defender at £65million.
Chelsea hijacked by Wolves
If Chelsea were to miss out on Victor Osimhen to Arsenal it would represent a crushing few days for the Blues, having already been hijacked once this week by Wolves.
Brazilian wonderkid Pedro Lima had been expected to head to Stamford Bridge via BlueCo’s second club Strasbourg.
But Sport Recife confirmed that their promising full-back instead would be moving to Wolves, after the reported efforts made by striker Matheus Cunha to convince him to snub Chelsea.

Arsenal to launch Victor Osimhen bid
Arsenal are set to bid for Napoli striker Victor Osimhen in the very near future, despite strong interest from Chelsea in the Nigerian sensation.
Italian outlet TGR claim that Arsenal are set to begin their attempts to sign the 25-year-old in the coming days, after being turned down by RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko.
However, there is a big gap in valuations as Napoli want a nine-figure fee for Osimhen while Arsenal are said to be prepared to spend up to spend £63million.
Arsenal have their sights set on Chelsea target Victor Osimhen.
Manchester United eye £12million bargain
Manchester United are looking into the possibility of signing Red Bull Salzburg defender Oumar Solet, who could be available for as little as £12million this summer.
RMC Sport claim that Solet is prepared to take the next step and leave Austria to further his career, and has just one year left on his contract with the Red Bull side.
United have watched Solet closely over the past season but face competition from Italian and German clubs for his signature.
But with the Red Devils looking to sign up to two centre-backs this summer, Solet could be seen as a bargain addition at Old Trafford for just £12m.
