Manchester United have named their 25-man squad for the upcoming Europa League season, following a surprise entry into the competition thanks to a stunning FA Cup final victory.

The Red Devils, who finished eighth in the Premier League last term, were not expected to compete in Europe during the 2024/25 season until Erik ten Hag led them to a 2-1 triumph over Manchester City at Wembley.

The draw for the revamped Europa League, now formatted as a league table, was conducted last week. United are set to face Rangers, PAOK, Bodo/Glimt and FC Twente at Old Trafford, while their away fixtures will see them clash with Porto, Fenerbahce, Viktoria Plzen and FCSB.

United’s 25-man squad for the Europa League, announced on Thursday, includes new summer signings Joshua Zirkzee, Leny Yoro, Matthijs de Ligt, Noussair Mazraoui and Manuel Ugarte alongside forgotten man Tyrell Malacia, who did not make a single appearance last season.

However, Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo, both products of United’s academy, have been omitted from the A-List due to UEFA rules stating that club-trained players born after 1 January 2003 do not need to be included in the main group.

United’s UEFA B List for the upcoming Europa League campaign includes academy products Garnacho, Mainoo and Toby Collyer, all of whom are under 21 and have spent two years at the club. However, 17-year-old Harry Amass, who joined from Watford last summer, has been named on the A List as he does not meet the B List criteria.

Amass, a versatile player who can cover at left-back, is part of the 25-man squad alongside Malacia, who is hoping to make a comeback after a long injury layoff. Despite rumours of a last-minute move to Galatasaray, Casemiro has also been included in the squad.

The Red Devils kick off their Europa League journey against FC Twente at Old Trafford on September 25.

United’s Europa League squad:

Goalkeepers: Onana, Heaton, Bayindir, Mee.

Defenders: Lindelof, Mazraoui, De Ligt, Maguire, Martinez, Malacia, Yoro, Dalot, Shaw, Evans, Amass.

Midfielders: Mount, Fernandes, Eriksen, Casemiro, Ugarte.

Forwards: Hojlund, Rashford, Zirkzee, Amad, Antony.
