Manchester United look set to have an easy deal to do if they decide to abandon their interest in Manuel Ugarte and prioritise Sofyan Amrabat’s permanent return. Erik ten Hag reportedly plans to bolster his midfield this summer, but attempts to lure Ugarte from Paris Saint-Germain have so far been unsuccessful.

Amrabat is also in the frame, despite returning to Fiorentina after his season-long loan at United expired without the club triggering a buy option worth £21million.

And developments at I Viola suggest the 27-year-old is there for the taking should INEOS’ focus divert from Ugarte.

According to Italian outlet La Nazione, Amrabat is at risk of being excluded from new Fiorentina manager Raffaele Palladino’s plans this season.

The Morocco international reportedly returned to training on Friday and worked with Palladino’s squad as well as completing a solo session.

But he is said to be waiting on a return to Old Trafford and at least wants to complete a permanent switch to the Premier League if that opportunity doesn’t re-emerge.

The report adds that, as a result, Palladino is ready to exclude Amrabat from Fiorentina’s upcoming pre-season friendlies against Montpellier, Grosseto and Freiburg.

Fiorentina are thought to want £17m from his sale and are claimed to have already rejected an £8.5m approach from Fenerbahce.

Amrabat could become United’s fourth permanent signing of the INEOS era, with the third after Bologna striker Joshua Zirkzee and Lille centre-back Leny Yoro reportedly imminent.

According to Foot Mercato, Bayern Munich have sanctioned Noussair Mazraoui’s transfer, and the right-back will travel to Manchester in the coming days.

It’s claimed that a medical has been booked for Tuesday before Mazraoui signs a five-year contract with the option of a further 12 months.

Ten Hag is said to want the 26-year-old through the door in time for next weekend’s Community Shield match against Manchester City.

While Ugarte remains United’s midfield priority, Amrabat’s return wouldn’t come as a major surprise after how strongly he finished his loan stint last season.

He started the Red Devils’ final four games of the campaign, including the incredible FA Cup final victory against City at Wembley in May.

Casemiro, Scott McTominay, Christian Eriksen and Toby Collyer represent Kobbie Mainoo’s potential partners in Ten Hag’s midfield double pivot this term.

McTominay appears the most likely to make way for a new arrival, with Fulham edging closer to meeting United’s £25m valuation.
