Manchester United have been widely linked with the appointment of Graham Potter and the signings of four players from their Premier League rivals. Erik ten Hag could be axed this summer if INEOS decide that a change is needed in the dugout, with Potter known to be liked by Sir Jim Ratcliffe. Express Sport looks at what a United 11 might look like under the former Chelsea and Brighton coach.

Goalkeeper: Onana

Andre Onana has faced criticism during his first season at United but with other positions taking priority this summer, the shot-stopper is likely to remain the No 1 next season.

Defenders: Dalot, Branthwaite, Adarabioyo, Shaw

A defensive restructure seems likely to take place after an injury-hit campaign. Raphael Varane’s departure has already been sealed, while others could follow the Frenchman out of the door.

Jarrad Branthwaite and Tosin Adarabioyo have been widely linked with moves to Old Trafford. The Everton defender would be a £55m purchase, while Adarabioyo becomes a free agent this summer and has interest from Newcastle.

Potter, Ten Hag or whoever next season’s United manager will be will hope to get a fully fit season out of Lisandro Martinez.

Midfielders: Mount, Mainoo, Onana

Keeping Mason Mount fit will be another priority for the next head coach. The former Chelsea player has made just 14 Premier League appearances since making the £60m switch from Stamford Bridge.

Kobbie Mainoo will be a mainstay in the United midfield for years to come, meaning the next manager may only want one midfield signing despite the likelihood of losing Casemiro and Sofyan Amrabat.

In a double swoop of Everton that includes Branthwaite, United may also try to sign Amadou Onana.

Attackers: Olise, Hojlund, Rashford

Ten Hag has struggled to get consistency out of his right-wingers this season. Antony has endured a disappointing campaign, while Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho look far better on the left.

Crystal Palace’s Michael Olise seems the obvious contender to fill the void. The Frenchman, who Express Sport understands has a complex release clause, faces interest from an array of top European teams this summer.

Despite playing in only 18 Premier League games this season due to injury, the 22-year-old has 15 goals contributions including 10 goals. He has excelled under Oliver Glasner, who is keen to keep his star man at Selhurst Park.
