Manuel Ugarte has sparked excitement from Manchester United fans with his reaction to a post on social media. The PSG midfielder is on the brink of a move to Old Trafford, with the two clubs reportedly agreeing on a £51million fee.

The development comes on the same day that Ugarte’s Uruguayan team-mate, Facundo Pellistri, left United to join Greek Super League side Panathinaikos.

The deal is worth £6.8million, with United receiving £5.1m for the winger with up to £1.7m in potential add-ons.

And the 22-year-old took to social media to confirm his departure with an emotional post. “Dear Reds. My time has come to say goodbye,” he told fans.

“It’s been an incredible journey, full of unforgettable moments and experiences that I will cherish forever. Your unwavering support, both on and off the pitch, is something that I will remember forever.”

Ugarte, 23, was quick to reply, simply posting a heart emoji. And his response has seemingly convinced fans of the Red Devils that he would soon be completing his move.

“One Uruguayan leaves while another arrives,” wrote @UTDSanti on X. “This guy really wants to sign for United!!” added @StartupManutd, while @Bilal_of_lagos said “He is one of us already.”
@ChrisManchestr7 implied Ugarte has already won over fans, posting “We already fell in love with you before you came. Welcome to the Theatre of Dreams.”
United have until August 30 to get a deal completed, when the summer transfer window closes. But with all parties seemingly keen on a permanent move for the player, negotiations are now expected to accelerate this week.

Ugarte’s exit from PSG has appeared inevitable ever since he was axed from the first team squad in pre-season by manager Luis Enrique. And he wasn’t selected to travel for their Ligue 1 opener at Le Havre on Friday night.

That’s despite spending just one season in Paris following his £50million move from Sporting CP. He contributed to a domestic treble, with the club winning Ligue 1, the Coupe de France, and the Trophee des Champions.
