As the first full week of the summer transfer window rises over the horizon, Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United are among the clubs reportedly attempting to seal deals early. While European clubs have to wait until July 1 to recruit players, Premier League outfits have been free to spend since Friday.

Euro 2024 has provided entertainment across the past two days, and there will be more where that came from today as England kick start their Group C campaign against Serbia.

But in the background of Gareth Southgate’s fourth major tournament as England boss, work is ongoing on the transfer front.

United have already been linked with numerous incoming and outgoing transfers, with Jose Mourinho reportedly looking to take more than one player off Erik ten Hag’s hands.

Meanwhile, Arsenal and Chelsea could be set to battle for one of Europe’s hottest goalscorers last season as Mikel Arteta and Enzo Maresca search for firepower.

Liverpool will also be working on Arne Slot’s first signing since replacing Jurgen Klopp, with Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur will undoubtedly be searching for upgrades too.

Manchester United return for Euro 2024 star

Manchester United have reportedly reignited their interest in the Netherlands’ Euro 2024 star Xavi Simons.

Simons started in Holland’s 2-1 victory over Poland today and L’Equipe claim that Paris Saint-Germain have been contacted by United over the prospect of signing Simons.

They had reportedly agreed to sign him for £50million a year ago, but the Dutchman opted to join RB Leipzig on loan instead, though United are keen on sealing that deal 12 months later.

Aston Villa have reportedly joined the race for Everton midfielder Amadou Onana, after Arsenal opened talks for the Belgium star.

TEAMTalk claim that Villa have touched base with Everton over a potential move for the £50million-rated man, but there has been no official offer submitted.

Douglas Luiz is on the verge of leaving Villa Park for Juventus and Onana may be seen as the ideal replacement, if Arsenal can be beaten to the punch.

Celtic name Matt O’Riley price

Celtic have reportedly slapped a £33million price tag on their star man Matt O’Riley amid interest from the Premier League and Atletico Madrid.

O’Riley has proven to be one of the top players in Scotland under Brendan Rodgers and Celtic face a battle to hang onto the former MK Dons man.

Spanish outlet AS claim that a new valuation of £33m has been given to potential buyers, including Atletico as boss Diego Simeone is thought to see O’Riley as a replacement for Saul Niguez.

Chelsea prepare to offer two players for Michael Olise

Chelsea are reportedly exploring ways to cut down Michael Olise’s £60m price tag, including offering Crystal Palace two players in a swap deal.

According to The Sun, Olise’s release clause can only be triggered by Champions League clubs, so Chelsea are looking for a work-around.

Noni Madueke and Trevoh Chalobah are claimed to be two players being considered to add to a deal for the 22-year-old.

Kieran Trippier opens up on failed Man Utd move

Kieran Trippier has opened up on his failed Manchester United transfer in 2021.

The England defender looked certain to make the switch from Atletico Madrid to Old Trafford after his role in Euro 2020.

But a move collapsed, and Trippier joined Newcastle six months later.

He told The Overlap: “United did come [in for me] straight after the Euros and that was very close. I grew up with my family being Reds, but it didn’t happen.

“Everything happens for a reason. It [the deal] just fell away. Ole was the manager at the time and everything seemed perfect, I was chuffed, it was Manchester United, the biggest club in the world.

“It didn’t happen, and I was back in Madrid. Six months later, I was at Newcastle.”

Xavi Simons subjected to heavyweight chase

Paris Saint-Germain have been contacted by Arsenal, Bayern Munich, Manchester City and Manchester United over the signing of Xavi Simons, according to L’Equipe.

However, the Ligue 1 giants don’t plan to sell the 21-year-old forward this summer and intend to loan him out for a second successive season.

Simons spent last term on loan at RB Leipzig after PSG triggered a £5m buy-back clause in his PSV Eindhoven contract.

The Dutchman registered 10 goals and 15 assists in 43 appearances for Leipzig, attracting heavyweight interest.

Newcastle weighing up Federico Chiesa swoop

Newcastle United have reportedly identified Juventus winger Federico Chiesa as a cheaper alternative to Michael Olise this summer.

According to GiveMeSport, Olise has been deemed an audacious transfer target and would set his buyers back £60m.

But Chiesa is expected to cost half that fee, and Newcastle could make their move in the latter stages of the window.

Pep Lijnders eyeing Liverpool star

RB Salzburg manager Pep Ljinders is reportedly looking to sign Liverpool goalkeeper Vitezslav Jaros this summer.

Ljinders left Anfield with Jurgen Klopp and accepted an exciting new role in Austria.

According to Salzburger Nachrichten, he wants to make Jaros one of his first signings after an impressive loan at Sturm Graz last season.

The 28-year-old is expected to leave Stuttgart, and the Premier League could be his destination.

Jose Mourinho wants Victor Lindelof reunion

Fenerbahce reportedly expect to finalise a deal for Manchester United defender Victor Lindelof at the request of new manager Jose Mourinho.

Lindelof has spent seven years at United since Mourinho brought him to the club in a £31m deal but looks set to slip down Erik ten Hag’s pecking order this summer.

According to Fotomac, the 29-year-old is keen to reunite with Mourinho in Turkey and could leave Old Trafford for around £7m.
